After 50 days complete due to a disastrous fire, the Highway 57 since Wednesday is again navigable. In the presence of North Rhine-WESTPHALIA Transport Minister Harry Eve's (SPD), the locks were cleared aside. The motorway is motorists between Dusseldorf and Cologne still before Easter again available.
An unknown had laid fire seven weeks ago, so that a motorway bridge destroyed and caused a pile-up. While a motorist was killed, 13 people were injured. In the place of the old, demolished bridge, two temporary bridges were built in the Eiltempo.
Highway 57 is one of the main commuter routes in the Rhineland. The 128 km long line leads to the Dutch border near Goch on the lower Rhine from Cologne. Today more than 100,000 vehicles are on sections of the main artery on the left lower Rhine on the day. (AP)
